Associations of German teachers
Association for German Studies in South Africa (SAGV)
The furtherance of the study of and research in the German language and literature through: national and international co-operation, affiliation to international associations for German studies, the support of research projects, the encouragement of personal contacts, the holding of conferences, meetings, discussions and enquiries, the publication of year-books, journals and other documentary material.
Association for Modern German Studies (AMGS)
To provide a forum for teachers, lecturers, researchers and others interested in the language, society and culture of German-speaking countries. The Association for Modern German Studies was founded in 1983 in collaboration with the Goethe-Institut. In November 2000 the Standing Conference on ab initio German in the UK and Ireland joined forces with the AMGS. Association members come from Secondary Schools, from Higher and from Further Education. The Association is a non-profit-making organisation administered by a panel which meets regularly to plan events and publications.
American Association of Teachers of German (AATG)
The mission of the AATG is based on the belief that bringing the language, literatures and cultures of the German-speaking world to all Americans is a vital humanistic endeavour which serves essential national interests. It's the only national individual membership organization dedicated to the advancement and improvement of the language, literature, and culture of the German-speaking countries. With 6,000 members, the AATG is for teachers of German at all levels of instruction and all those interested in the teaching of German.
Association of German Teachers of Victoria (AGTV)
The purposes for which the incorporated association is established are to promote the teaching and learning of German in Victoria; to offer support to all teachers and students of German on matters of concern; to foster contact by teachers and students with speakers of German in the community and abroad; to encourage and facilitate travel abroad by teachers of German and their students.
Conference of University Teachers of German (CUTG)
The CUTG was founded in 1932, with the aim of meeting annually to discuss matters pertaining to the study of German in all its branches, to promote the study thereof, to encourage research, and generally to foster high standards of competence among university teachers of German.
German Studies Association (GSA)
The German Studies Association is the multi and interdisciplinary association of scholars in German, Austrian, and Swiss history, literature, culture studies, political science, and economics. GSA holds an annual Conference and publishes a scholarly journal - German Studies Review - as well as a Newsletter. Members are generally professors at universities in colleges in North America, although there are several hundred members in Europe and Asia. Membership is open to anyone interested in German studies. GSA is a member of the American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS).

Oregon Association of Teachers of German (OATG)
Oregon Association of Teachers of German is the Oregon-affiliated branch of the national American Association of Teachers of German. By becoming a member of the national AATG, you automatically become a member of the branch of the state in which you reside.
